OPTIMUM HUMIDITY
Wet environments can cause problems in buildings, ships, steel structures and pipelines. Excessive moisture and dampness leads to mould, corrosion and short circutting. Dehumidificaton is essential

Too little moisture results in dry climates in offices, museums, art galleries and archives. Humidification is the soultion
Ship and offshore

On board ships and oil platforms there is a requirement for both dehumidification and humidification. Regardless of how well a ship or oil platform is maintained, certain areas will always be exposed to corrosion.

Supplying these areas with dry air helps keep rust development to a minimum. Even untreated steel stops rusting when the relative humidity is kept below 45 per cent.

Unaccountable system failures and breakdowns are mainly caused by dampness because electronics and motor windings are sensitive to moisture. By installing adsorption dehumidifiers, the inner climate can be controlled and repair costs considerably reduced.

The Norwegian Coast Guard

Cold and damp spaces in ships’ hulls have presented the Norwegian Coast Guard with maintenance problems. High humidity in equipment rooms containing electric motors, pumps and other installations has resulted in high maintenance costs.

The KV Andenes and KV Nordkapp have now installed adsorption dehumidifiers. These ensure optimum humidity and the Coast Guard anticipates a reduction in maintenance costs. So far, the results have been good.

The Kristin platform

F-Tech has delivered adsorption dehumidifiers to Statoil’s new Kristin platform. Dehumidifiers safeguard external pipe systems and electronic connections against corrosion and condensation problems. Dry air is pumped into open cavities and service ducts and keeps dampness and maintenance under control.

CRP dehumidifiers from HBC

The CRP dehumidifier series is designed for process air drying, ie. applications of low dew points or deep drying.
For this application the dehumidifier often is connected a pre- and/or post cooler. Process drying needs very reliable equipment, and due to the special high quality components used in the CRP series, this high reliability isachieved. The CRP series dehumidifiers is the top-quality process dehumidifiers.

THE CRP DEHUMIDIFIER FEATURES:

• Cabinet manufactured in stainless steel
• Designed for low dew point applications
• Designed for easy connection of external AHU parts
• The insulated inlet plenum allows for pre-cooled process air
• Electronic controller for stepless temperature control (reg.air)
• External pressure available for dry air and reg.air for ducting on site
• Pocket filters for process air inlet, filter cassette for reg.air inlet
• Internal components of highest quality and reliability
• High performance desiccant rotor of washable silica gel
• Separated air flows for process air and for reg.air, two fans installed
• Easy access for service and maintenance
• Electric-, steam-, or gas heater available.

AREAS OF APPLICATION.
The CRP range is designed for process drying. Process drying is often a process of drying fresh
air to a low dew point, a process that often needs a pre- cooler for the first dehumidification step,
then the CRP dehumidifier for the low dew point, and finally a post cooler for the temperature
control of the dry air. A combination of standard AHU components connected our standard CRP
dehumidifier, ensures the highest quality of the critical part: the dehumidifier.

CONTROLS.
our electronic hygrostats DA20 and
DH24 or our
For controlling the CRP series dehumidifiers we recommend
advanced microprocessor based Dehumidifier Control Centre, DCC.
The DCC controls the dehumidifier on %RH and/or dew point.
Internal alarms and temperatures of the dehumidifier can be displayed, aswell as the control
parameters can be setup in the DCC remote panel. External values of temperature, %RH and
dew point for up to 3 sensors can be displayed. The DCC offers on/off and stepless control of the
dehumidifier, allthough the CRP series dehumidifiers needs an optional component in order to use
the stepless control.

    Factory testing of dehumidifiers

F-Tech is occasionally required to test equipment prior to shipment.

    Explosionproof dehumidification

In connection with the painting of offshore installations, there has been a problem in not being able to use effective adsorption dehumidifiers because of the risk of explosion.

The answer has been to keep a fire-fighting team posted in order to deal with critical situations. This is expensive and requires additional helicopter transport and accommodation on board. We have now developed a solution that can be used in Zone 2 areas. The dehumidifier is placed in a container, which is protected by overpressure and monitored by gas and fire detectors. The start-up operation is completely automatic and in accordance with current regulations. Connect up the pipes and hoses and press the button. The automatic control system will exhaust all gases from the container, check that the air is OK, and start the dehumidifying process. If gas is detected, the system will automatically shut down and send a signal to the platform’s monitoring system.

    Intelligent self adjustment

The new intelligent HygroMatik microprocessor controls include the optional of modular upgrading. They accept all standard control signals. Self-adjusting, they choose the most economic mode of operation for the available water quality andmonitor the complete humidification process.

Remote control and Master-Slave operation optional.
